Encouraging open and honest talk about periods

betty bus on tour

We are currently overwhelmed (and excited!) by the high volume of requests we have received for the betty bus. Due to the demand, we are now operating a waiting list - simply fill out the form on the next page to add your school to it.

If you have already requested the bus, please be patient as we work to book your school in. With just one bus touring the UK, it may take a while for it to get to your area! Don't worry, we'll be in touch with you as soon as we can with potential dates.

What is the betty bus?

The betty bus is FREE to schools across the UK, encouraging open and honest conversations about periods with girls and boys aged 8-12.

During the immersive one-hour session onboard, our trained facilitators will help girls to explore how periods can affect their emotions and what they can do to combat them. Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about the boys! Whilst the girls are onboard the bus, the boys will have the opportunity to take part in a separate session on empathy, learning more about what girls go through each month.

Getting involved couldn’t be simpler!

Step 1

Get in touch to register your interest and be put on our betty bus waiting list.

Step 2

We'll acknowledge your request and get in touch to let you know when the bus is in your area to book you in.

Step 3

Use the templates and guides provided by us to invite local secondary and primary schools to deliver the lesson and join you on bus day.

Step 4

Deliver the in-class digital lesson which covers the basics of the cycle and how periods will affect girls both physically and emotionally. This lesson, which can be delivered in two 45 minute parts, will give the pupils the necessary base on which to make the most of their time on the bus.

Step 5

Welcome the betty bus to your school!

The logistics

The bus will need to park onsite and can take up to six groups of 20 Year 5, 6 or 7 girls on a rolling programme across the day. The workshops will involve a selection of experiential activities and a team challenge. Each workshop lasts approximately an hour but can be fitted around your school timetable. We invite you to populate the sessions with your students and others from your local secondary and primary schools.

The boy’s workshops will focus on their understanding and attitude towards this perfectly natural time of month. It will take place, ideally, in a classroom. We require at least one member of the teaching staff from your school to be present at both the boys’ session and the girls’ bus session.

Still interested? Simply fill out the quick and easy form on the next page to be put on to our waiting list and once we have availability, we'll be in touch soon to sort a date!
